Moving Beyond the Page 6-8 – Concept 1, Unit 3, Lesson 2: Animal Structure
Today we learned how animals are designed to fit the environment where they live. We studied the different body coverings groups of animals have. Each with their own texture, pattern, colors and other attributes. We created a graph of body coverings classifying them by scales, feathers, fur and exoskeleton groups. We did color code each image to match the label in the ‘x-axis’, which we also underlined with the corresponding color. This simple strategy made creating the graph more straight forward and fun. We worked on other types of graphs for body parts, as well as for different attributes.
RightStart Math
Today we used the Geoboards for the first time to learn about ‘congruent’ rectangles and triangles. Anything that feels like a game or a toy is a big hit with AA and this was no exception. I really love the hands-on approach that RightStart Math has and so does AA. The more we use RS the more we fall in love with it!
